It’s important that we take responsibility for our own health and make conscious choices about what we’re putting into our bodies. Don’t just listen to whatever you’re hearing in the media or at a coffee shop. It’s been proven that a lot of our medical issues can be remedied with natural compounds instead of synthetic and addictive medications that big pharma pushes.

Cannabis is a great example, and the most popularized, of natural medicines that hold remarkable healing effects. Often referred to as a “miracle plant”, cannabis aids in both physical and psychological ailments. Holds a low risk of side effects, won’t cause organ damage, and has no possibility of death from overdose. Studies show that just over 38% of individuals who begin to take cannabis for their ailments terminate their prescriptions. Our body naturally produces cannabinoids, so it makes sense that incorporating this into our treatments is basically the same as adding Vitamin D to our diets when our bodies are low on it. There's a high concentration in breastmilk, and these cannabinoids are produced from omega 3 fatty acids in our bodies.
Now why wouldn’t we want cannabis as one of our top choices for treatment? The simple answer would be that big pharma just can’t make the same profit on healthy people using medicine that grows like weeds from the ground. From a legal standpoint, states and privately owned prisons profit from incarcerations and the fees associated with cannabis charges. The US makes around 820k cannabis possession charges a year, while 90% of those people have no priors. You can expect to pay anywhere from $2k to $20k to fight your charges in a courtroom.
The higher ups often use fear mongering as a deterrent to these holistic approaches. Another “miracle plant” that falls under this category would be kratom. Now think - what do you already know about kratom? It’s sold at gas stations next to the sketchy libido pills, at smoke shops next to crack pipes, and is associated with opioid addiction. The FDA chooses not to regulate this and with a simple google search, there are a lot of negative reviews. While this is an opioid, it has a low amount of side effects and has a high amount of health benefits. Studies show on average that kratom is used 91% for pain relief, 67% for anxiety, 64% for depression, and 41% for opioid dependency. 87% of individuals with an opioid addiction were able to replace the synthetic, addictive, and harmful pills for this natural supplement that will not lead them to an overdose.
In the US alone, there are around 2 million individuals in active opioid addiction. 97k individuals die a year from drug overdose, while 7/10 of those were from opiods. There’s one person addiction is good for, and that’s big pharma. The payouts physicians receive no doubtebly influence their writing of prescriptions. Thankfully, there were lawsuits that slowed down these pills being given out like candy, but non the less people are still struggling. Big pharma backed mainstream media publishes and promotes use of these FDA regulated drugs, advertising a “safe” medication while creating smear campaigns against the holistic and naturally found medicines.
Do your own research, on any and everything you’re putting into your body. And know how to search correctly! Remember, these big companies have the power to influence and get their biased information to the top of search pages. Use alternative keywords, speak with holistic practitioners, and get multiple opinions. You have access to endless information, it’s all about spending the time to find what’s best for you and your health.
