Frequently you hear popular songs and others boast about being a “solopreneur”, that they’ve done it all themselves, run their entire businesses by themselves, or what not. But how far can you really get by working alone? It’s true that we all have the same amount of time in a day but what it really comes down to is what you choose to do with that time. Where is your time the most valuable? And is it really that efficient to have to wear the hats of all the roles?
You can’t be an expert in all the areas of your business or other ventures that are needed to accomplish big things. Apple or Tesla would never get to where they are if they had taken a solopreneur route. By finding the people who are experts in a designated area of work you're guaranteeing that things are getting the full attention they need. There are no headaches of trying to learn a new skill or juggling multiple tasks that get 4% of your energy when needing much, much more.
Over time you’ll have a team of experts that not only help accomplish these tasks but become individuals you truly can rely on. Trusting others with your work can be a challenge, I know. But the results of finding your A-team make for a world of a difference. You’ll not worry about if the work is being done or if they’re going to show up for you. Pretty soon you've built a professional and lucrative relationship. You know these people, they know you, and the communication improves.
Working on projects by yourself is exhausting all your personal resources and limiting the company's potential. The entire venture is then built off of solely your opinions and perhaps you miss a huge part of what others may find extremely important. Building a team allows you to hear others' insights and ideas, their feelings, and discernment. It’s essential to have a broad range of information and base your next steps on that.
